Our Story
It all started in a small garage in London, where our founder, James Elops, first began tinkering with bike designs in his spare time. An avid cyclist himself, James wanted to make cycling more accessible and enjoyable for everyone. He started Elops® with the vision of creating comfortable, versatile bikes that were designed for real-world riding conditions – bikes that riders could rely on for their daily commutes, weekend adventures, and everything in between.
As James began building and testing prototypes, word started to spread among his riding buddies about these uniquely practical bikes. Before long, there was more demand from fellow cyclists than James could keep up with in his garage! So he decided to turn his passion into a business, found a small workshop, and hired a few employees to start hand-building Elops bikes to share with the world.
Growth & Evolution
Over the years, the Elops® team and product lineup have grown rapidly. While James and a few technicians originally built each bike start-to-finish by hand, our bikes are now produced in larger facilities using modern, efficient manufacturing techniques – without sacrificing any of the quality or attention to detail that goes into each one.
Today, our engineers use the latest technology and software to design Elops bikes that deliver optimal comfort, performance, and durability. We thoroughly test each new model under real-world conditions before launch, drawing on our team’s own cycling experiences and feedback from our customers.
